ABOUT
WHY I STARTED THIS
I’ve been where you are. I was a straight-A student but had no idea how to turn my skills and ambition into a fulfilling career. My dad was a doctor, my mom a science teacher, but I loved the arts. I had no “Uncle Steve in LA” to help me figure it out. So I had to stumble my way to an eventual career. I hate seeing wasted time. I wanna help you find your path faster.
MY CAREER BACKGROUND
Since I was an English major, I figured I’d become an English teacher. I landed a hard-to-get job as a private school English teacher and performing arts director. But I hated the same routine every day. So I left to study film and acting, which led me to New York (and bartending). But I rediscovered my love of writing and learned how it could translate to a career in advertising. So I went to grad school, became a “Mad man” and began a 20-year career writing ad campaigns for The Red Cross, US Army, Pepsi, Staples, Mitsubishi, Taco Bell, and more, winning awards, collaborating with artists, and loving what I did each day.
WHY I CAN HELP
I know what it’s like to feel a bit lost. To know you have a lot to offer but not know how it translates to a career. In my 3 careers, 9 cities, 25 years of experience and countless misadventures, I’ve gotten to know architects, musicians, writers, DJs, photographers, cinematographers, producers, inventors, engineers, graphic designers, interior designers, fashion designers, screenwriters, actors, voiceover artists, and more. HOW IT WORKS
We kick it off with a one-hour ‘foundation’ call where I get to know everything about your ambitions and background--not just your major/minor, but your hobbies, the sports you play, where you’ve lived, a junior year abroad, everything. That way I can best see what they might add up to. It might be a career you weren’t even aware of.
We create a working, personal evaluation sheet I share with you to give you action steps.
We have three more 20 min. phone calls over the month to keep you on track.

I offer a range of approaches, from a single 1-hour phone call to a longer-term plan to help you formulate a career plan, build a compelling website, put you in touch with industry professionals in your desired field and ultimately get you happily employed. But as I scale these based on applicant needs and my availability, I’ve found it’s best to chat first to discuss your goals and commitment level.
